A former Rutgers running back made his way to the end zone for his first professional touchdown on Sunday.

Gus Edwards, who spent his final collegiate season in Piscataway last fall, found the end zone for the first time in his NFL career on Sunday. And it couldn’t have come at a better time.

With the Baltimore Ravens trailing the Cincinnati Bengals 21-13 late in the third quarter, Edwards ripped off an 11-yard TD run to pull his team within two points. The running back then converted on the two-point conversion, tying the game at 21-21.

The Ravens pulled of a 24-21 win, getting a field goal midway through the fourth quarter.

Edwards finished the game with 115 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.

Edwards signed with the Ravens in May as an undrafted free agent. He hasn’t seen the field much this season, taking just 15 handoffs for 64 yards prior to Sunday’s game.

But we may see more of Edwards after this weekend.

Rutgers landed Edwards prior to the start of the 2017 season after he made the decision to transfer from Miami (FL). Last season with the Scarlet Knights, the running back registered 713 yards and six touchdowns. He also had 13 catches for 103 yards and a score.
