It’s a big deal.

That’s basically the point Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez was trying to get across on Monday afternoon, when he and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick officially announced the Wisconsin-Notre Dame series was heading to Lambeau Field and Soldier Field. Though, Alvarez said it a little more eloquently than that.

News that the two programs would be shifting the series from a home-and-home to two neutral site games in 2020 and 2021 was confirmed on Sunday night. But it was made official on Monday.

In 2020, the Badgers and Irish will square off at Lambeau Field in Green Bay on Oct. 3. The next year, the two teams will meet on Sept. 25 at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

This will be a special series for both programs and one that should draw plenty of attention, especially considering the venues.
