Wisconsin basketball is playing the 2019-20 season with a heavy heart. The Badgers don’t want to just win the Big Ten and a national championship for themselves.

They want to do it for assistant coach Howard Moore and his son Jerell Moore. Howard and his son lived through a tragic car accident during May, 2019. Howard’s wife and daughter did not live through the accident.

Howard has had medical issues since the accident and is not coaching the Badgers this season. To open the 2019-20 season, Wisconsin honored the Moore family by not just having a moment of silence, but before the team’s home-opener on Nov. 8, it had a sixth-man introduced during the starting lineups.

The sixth man was Jerell, Howard’s 13-year-old soon.

BTN’s The Journey is set to air a show focusing on the Moore family and Wisconsin basketball at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 8:
