TJ Watt injury has no 'long term concern', says HC Mike Tomlin
T.J. Watt exited the Pittsburgh Steelers’ preseason game early on Sunday with an injury. Head coach Mike Tomlin updated everyone on the severity of the injury, along with the status of Diontae Johnson per Evan Washburn of CBS Sports.
The former Wisconsin LB had issues with his knee, and left the game as a precaution. He is coming off a 2021 season where he had 48 solo tackles, 22.5 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles, and would be missed by his team. Tomlin stated that if it had been a regular season game, Watt and Johnson would have come back in.
“Look, if this was a regular season game, we might see those guys back in this game,” said Tomlin. “So there’s no long term concern at the moment for either player.”

The 2021 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year may have dodged a bullet. Johnson’s injury had something to do with his shoulder, and was also not very severe.
The Steelers 2022 season opens with the Cincinnati Bengals away from home on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
