The first weekend in April proved to be a good one for Illinois.

On Sunday, the Illini landed commitments from two huge prospects. Three-star offensive lineman Marcus Harper and four-star running back Reggie Love have both given their verbal pledges to Illinois, becoming the first two targets to commit.

Harper is one of the top in-state talents and Love is considered one of the better running backs in the 2020 class. Harper was the first to commit on Sunday, followed by Love. Both made their announcement via Twitter.

Harper is ranked as the No. 7 player out of the state of Illinois. At 6-foot-4, 290 pounds, he adds good size to the offensive line unit, which has been a unit of concern under Lovie Smith.

Love is a St. Louis, Missouri native and is ranked as the No. 22 running back in the 2020 cycle. He’s one of the top 350 players in the recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

With Harper and Love committing, the Illini now have the 10th-best recruiting class in the B1G and ranks 48th nationally. Illinois’ 2019 recruiting class ranked 59th nationally and was 13th in the conference.
