Indiana’s 2019 recruiting class took a hit on Tuesday.

Michael Cartwright, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive lineman out of Hialeah, Florida, announced his decision to decommit from Indiana. He made the announcement via Twitter.

Cartwright is a 3-star prospect and was one of seven players from Florida in the Hoosiers’ 2019 recruiting class.

“I would like to thank Indiana for recruiting me during my recruiting process and the entire Indiana coaching staff for making [me] feel like family the whole time. But today I will be decommitting from Indiana University and reopening my recruitment for me to re-evaluate everything and to make the best decision for me as a person, player and, most importantly, a student.”

Head coach Tom Allen has had a strong presence in Florida and has established a stable recruiting pipeline in the state. But Cartwright doesn’t feel like Bloomington is the place for him, at least at the moment.

With Cartwright’s decommitment, Indiana now owns the 41st-ranked recruiting class nationally and 10th in the B1G. The class has dipped down to 16 prospects.

Cartwright had an offer from one other B1G school, Nebraska. He originally committed to the Hoosiers in July.
