Zach Smith’s attorney informed reporters that the former Ohio State wide receivers coach was interviewed by investigators Tuesday. It now appears that the mothers involved in the saga are the among the latest people to be interviewed.

Reporter and Ohio State author Jeff Snook shared on Facebook that Lynn Bruce, mother of Zach Smith, and Tina Carano, the estranged mother of Courtney Smith, spoke with investigators Wednesday. The two women have been in contact with Snook, who is known as an insider on Buckeyes football. Snook has quoted both women as saying Zach Smith never abused Courtney Smith, his ex-wife who has made multiple domestic abuse allegations over the years.

Ohio State turned to outside help to oversee a two-week probe into how the football program and athletic department handled the allegations against Zach Smith and corresponding police investigations. Head coach Urban Meyer is on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
