Eli Manning made a trip to Penn State this offseason, but he did not make his trip as the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback. No, Manning’s stop in Happy Valley came as Chad Powers, a potential walk-on for the Nittany Lion football program.

Manning turned heads in the tryouts before it was finally revealed that Powers was truly a Manning family member undercover. Penn State also used Eli’s visit to award a scholarship to one specialist.

On Wednesday, Manning released another short clip of the visit that was prior to his workout. The clip included a conversation with older brother Peyton Manning who had some advice for Eli and James Franklin getting to meet Chad Powers for the first time.

“Coach Franklin, Chad Powers, I’m going to be your starting quarterback,” said Manning in his disguise. To his credit, Franklin was unimpressed and said he’d know the Manning face anywhere.

In the end, the visit and full video were incredible, and Franklin touched on the importance of such endeavors for the Penn State program during his Tuesday press conference. We’ll see if the Nittany Lions have any other surprise visitors in the future.
