Jordan Murphy continues to make history at Minnesota.

Murphy played a huge role in the Gophers’ 86-76 victory over Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, scoring 18 points and grabbing six rebounds in the win. It marked the first tournament win for Minnesota under head coach Richard Pitino and the first tournament victory since 2013 for the program.

But Murphy made a little personal history, moving up to No. 2 on Minnesota’s all-time scoring list on Thursday. He surpassed Willie Burton to own the second spot by himself. Mychael Thompson owns the top spot in Gophers history.

Murphy has been one of the all-time greats in Minnesota basketball history and has been especially good this season. He’s averaging a double-double on the year, posting 14.8 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest. Murphy is also averaging 2.7 assists per game.

Murphy has reached double figures in each of Minnesota’s last six games, putting himself in great position to climb into the second spot on the all-time scoring list.
