This is not the list you want to land on heading into the season.
ESPN’s Football Power Index always produces some interesting predictions. Obviously, upsets are bound to happen, but the system has proven to be reliable on many occasions.
Heading into the season, there are four B1G teams ranked in the top 15 of the FPI. That group is headlined by Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines at No. 5. Unfortunately, not all B1G teams received such a favorable prediction.
Here are the three teams the FPI expects to make up the bottom of the B1G:
- Rutgers: No. 92 nationally. 3.5-8.5 projected win-loss, favored in two games.
- Illinois: No. 79 nationally. 4.8-7.2 projected win-loss, favored in four games.
- Maryland: No. 68 nationally. 4.1-7.9 projected win-loss, favored in two games.
Do you agree with the FPI’s bottom three?
Other ESPN FPI predictions: Illinois – Indiana – Iowa – Maryland – Michigan – Michigan State – Minnesota — Nebraska – Northwestern – Ohio State – Penn State – Purdue – Rutgers – Wisconsin
